About

Hello. I’m Nicholas Jackson.  I teach in the Mathematics and Economics departments at the University of Warwick, I help run the production side of the journals Geometry & Topology and Algebraic & Geometric Topology, and I try to get bits and pieces of mathematical research done with some of the spare time and energy I have left over.

I intend to explain interesting bits of mathematics (mostly related to algebra and topology, especially knot theory) to both non-specialist mathematicians and interested non-mathematicians.

In general, posts categorised as expository should hopefully be suitable for interested non-mathematicians, while those categorised as research are aimed more towards readers with at least one mathematics degree.
